“WinocaFest” is a daylong music festival presenting regional and national acts, and showcasing socially and environmentally conscious groups active in the Cape Fear NC Region. This event takes place on May 19, 2012 from 12-11pm on the grounds of the US North Carolina Battleship. The Park is located along the banks of the Cape Fear River looking back across from Historic Downtown Wilmington.
The underlying motivation of Winoca Fest is to galvanize and mobilize our community by raising awareness about nonprofits active within our community. We are providing free space to these community organizations as a way to highlight and support their creative endeavors.
As many as thirty groups will be on display to meet and greet the public, explaining current projects and promoting socially and environmentally conscious efforts within the community. We have some amazing groups here in the Cape Fear region, including Cucalorus Film Festival, Surfers Healing, The Full Belly Project, The River Keeper, Surfrider Foundation, 1,000 People Who Care, and many more which are full of creative and talented people who are making a real difference in the Cape Fear community and around the world.
This event strives to have a low carbon footprint each year, utilizing solar generators and LED lighting and committing to the reduction of plastics and waste throughout the entire event. (McGill Compost)
Hotel Rooms are available for $99/night at the Hampton Inn on 17th Street. Just tell them you are here for WINOCAFEST!
